As announced yesterday, the Raptors’ Siakam is one of ten nominees from across the league for the NBA Cares Community Assist Award. The voting has already begun! Though he should be a shoe-in for the NBA’s Most Improved Player award, the Raptors’ Pascal Siakam has also earned consideration for another of the league’s season-long honours. Announced yesterday, Toronto’s new star forward is one of ten players nominated for the NBA Cares Community Assist Award.
As per the description, the award exists to honour “a player’s strong commitment to positively impact his community through sustained efforts over the course of the season.”
The winner will be announced at the 2019 NBA Awards show on Monday, June 24 (on TNT). And, it should be noted, part of the prize is a $25,000 donation to a charity of the player’s choice. Cool stuff.
But that’s not all! This year, you can vote on who the winner should be. This can be done here, via something called Jebbit, or on Twitter with #NBACommunityAssist. So now instead of just mentioning that Siakam should definitely by the MIP, be sure to add in the hashtag. It’s really a win-win-win when you think …
