Now the playoffs get really series, as the Philadelphia 76ers head into Toronto to try and steal Game 1 from the Raptors. Will it happen? Let’s watch. Is it possible we’re getting too confident in Toronto? After watching the Raptors blow Game 1 vs. Orlando, all the usual terrors roamed free in this city and there was much wailing and gnashing of teeth. Then, absolution: the Raptors blew the doors off the Magic for the next four games and looked every bit the fearsome title contenders they carry themselves to be.
But the Philadelphia 76ers are a different matter. Like the Raptors, their starting lineup is one of extreme talent, stocked as it is with players capable of filling the stat sheet in a myriad of ways, and able to change the complexion of a game — of an entire series — in a moment. The Sixers hit their own speed bump in the first round, dropping Game 1 to the Brooklyn Nets, and then muscled their way past that feisty team in five games too. As much as I’d like to make jokes at their expense (and I will), the Sixers are no laughing matter.
