Report: Kyle Clifford, Toronto Maple Leafs expressing interest in new contract

An article published in the Toronto Sun this week was headlined by news that Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman Morgan Rielly and legendary Canadian ice dancer Tessa Virtue are a thing.

Now, that in and of itself is some pretty neat news, but buried deeper in the article was a note that the Leafs and newly-acquired forward Kyle Clifford were both interested in a new contract.
Clifford, acquired by the Leafs alongside Jack Campbell in a Feb. 5 trade, played in 16 games with the club and is set to be a UFA this offseason.
“Kyle has really liked it and enjoyed it so far,” Clifford’s agent, Todd Reynolds, told the Toronto Sun. “It’s something we would be interested in and it’s something that the Leafs are interested in.”
With one goal and two assists in his time in T.O., the Sun’s Terry Koshan said Clifford quickly became a respected voice in the dressing room.
As noted when he was acquired, Clifford posted strong underlying numbers for the Kings (5v5 CF% of 55.18 and a 55.89 xGF%), but those numbers took a bit of a dive in small sample size. In …
