Raptors: Insane price for potential Cavs trade target should rule out acquisition

The Toronto Raptors might end up doing some deals with the Cleveland Cavaliers around the trade deadline, as Toronto interest in the mighty Andre Drummond could be a quick way to improve their rebounding. If they don’t get Drummond, Larry Nance Jr. might end up as a raptor by the end of the deadline. Nance […]

Toronto Raptors should do all it takes to get Aron Baynes

Toronto Raptors should do all it takes to get Aron Baynes

The Toronto Raptors are doing the literal opposite of what the Pistons are doing, and although most of that is a good thing. They might want to consider signing a Center sooner rather than later. Serge Ibaka has now followed Kawhi Leonard to Los Angeles, and Toronto Raptors fan couldn’t have been more hurt. Especially […]

Marlies bring back Hudson Elynuik

The Marlies are doing their best to keep busy in their extended offseason, and today announced that they are bringing back one of their strong bottom six performers…

News: The Marlies have signed forward Hudson Elynuik to a one-year AHL contact.

The 22 year old is a 6’5 center that was a solid offensive player at the junior hockey level who is transitioning into a strong bottom six forward in the pro ranks. In many ways he’s similar to Freddie Gauthier, but there is more of a physical upside that could be tapped into that could make him worthy of a SPC in a year or two.
I’ve always liked Elynuik, maybe not as much as the Canes when they reached to draft him 74th overall in 2016, but as a big player in the WHL he was dominant. Additionally I was a fan of his Dad, Pat, who played on the Winnipeg Jets 1.0 and owned a sports card shop within biking distance of my house growing up. Keeping Elynuik in the Leafs organization allows me to continue …

Sean Reid-Foley and Anthony Kay got optioned to Triple-A so we can have something to talk about

Was this just Ross Atkins doing us all a solid, or what?

Maybe there was an actual reason for this or maybe it was because the front office was bored and it was Transaction Friday, but the Blue Jays have optioned Anthony Kay and Sean Reid-Foley to Triple-A Buffalo. So, they’re going from one team that isn’t playing games to another team that isn’t playing games. Exciting stuff!
Eight players have been optioned thus far (Kay, Reid-Foley, T.J. Zeuch, Julian Merryweather, Thomas Hatch, Hector Perez, Elvis Luciano, and Patrick Murphy, while Yennsy Diaz went on the 60-day Injured List) meaning the Jays have 32 players on their active roster.
Opening Day was supposed to be on this upcoming Thursday, but, as we know, that isn’t going to be the case due to COVID-19, so it isn’t like the Jays are in any rush to get down to the 26-player limit. Regardless, Kay and Reid-Foley aren’t going to crack the roster when baseball resumes, which isn’t much of surprise anyway.

Daily Duce: Tim Tebow getting struck out by a position player edition

Daily?!?!?!!?
I was meaning to start doing these things regularly this season but, for whatever reason, that hasn’t happened. Anyways, I wanted to post about Tim Tebow getting struck out by a journeyman first baseman in last night’s Triple-A Bisons game, so here we are. Let’s hope I can make this a regular part of the routine.

The Bisons got absolutely spanked last night by the Mets Triple-A squad, losing 16-2. Sean Reid-Foley left the game after four innings due to an injury (that apparently isn’t serious), the Bisons’ bullpen got lit up, and everyone on the Syracuse Mets managed to get a hit except for one guy — Tim Tebow.
Tebow went 0-for-4 with a walk and the highlight of his night came in the ninth inning when he was struck out by the surprisingly-hard-throwing position player Jordan Patterson. If you don’t recognize that name, I don’t blame you. Patterson is a 27-year-old former draft pick of the Colorado Rockies who played 10 games in the Majors in 2016. He inked a minor league deal with the Jays organization in the off-season as depth for Buffalo.

Point Man #31: Baynes and Adams play their part in the plan

With Lowry and Conley doing their thing, and trouble heading their way, Baynes and Adams step into the fray and do their part on the Silverstern job. The others may be using subterfuge or their own sense of recklessness to get the job done, but Baynes and Adams? They’re just playing their part: being the distraction, bringing the noise. The Silverstern job… continues.
