Page 6ix Wednesday, May 12th: Post-season is (almost) upon us

Hello gossip fiends! The end of the season is upon us (or…almost, for the Canadian division), and with it we have playoff matchups and locker clean out interviews and all sorts of goodies to look at. Plus, of course, those random Canadian division games that are virtually meaningless. So let’s take a look, shall we?
Leafs Land
The Leafs have their “Battle of Ontario season finale” tonight because apparently that’s a thing!

So if you happen to be desperate to know how the series between the first place team and likely last place team in the division ends up, tonight’s the night!
But you know what is exciting about tonight’s game? The one and only Frederik Andersen is back in net!

Sheldon Keefe said the plan is for Frederik Andersen to start tomorrow vs. OTT

As a reminder, Freddie has been sidelined with an injury since March. He recently did a conditioning stint with the Marlies where his results were…uhhh….less than stellar. It definitely feels …

Page 6ix Wednesday, May 5th: The Rangers take on NHL Player Safety

Happy Hump Day gossip hounds. I’m sure there are little things we can and will touch on from around the league, but obviously the big story is the Tom Wilson-New York Rangers-NHL Player Safety saga to wrap our heads around, so we’ll get to that shortly. Let’s start, though, as always, with what’s happening in Leafs-land.

Happy birthday Mitch Marner! Everyone’s favorite overgrown Leafs kid is celebrating today:

Our still sidelined goalie Frederik Andersen is talking about where he likes to eat in Toronto (when not in lockdown, obviously):

Page 6ix Wednesday April 28th: Clinching SZN is upon us

Hello gossip friends. Apologies for the lengthy absence – sometimes real life gets in the way of hockey entertainment, but what can ya do? Alas, we have returned, and just in time for teams all over the place to start clinching playoff spots, while Leafs fans watch in envy. There’s other stuff to discuss, too. Let’s do it.
Leafs Land
So, about that playoff spot:

#Leafs can become first team in the North to clinch a playoff spot tonight. https://t.co/mo7roKlcaM
— Frank Seravalli (@frank_seravalli) April 28, 2021

Come on, Ottawa, help us out. (Yes, I know the Leafs have to win, too. Sigh.) We’ll see what happens tonight, won’t we?
Elsewhere in Leaf-land, Mark Fraser is trying to impact change from the inside:

Mark Fraser hadn’t really seen allyship in hockey until John Tavares & Maple Leafs wore “Black Lives Matter” shirts.
That gesture impacted Fraser in such a way that he is now working for MLSE about making that allyship more commonplace. https://t.co/6z7hogCrW2

Nick Foligno continues to settle in nicely as a new Leaf, already making an impact on and off the ice:

Page 6ix Wednesday, March 31st: A little too quiet…

Happy Wednesday, gossip fans. Spring has sprung…and things have been relatively quiet on the hockey gossip front. Weird, eh? As we approach the trade deadline, all’s quiet – is it maybe the calm before the storm?
Let’s see what we can dig up from the past week, shall we?
Leafs Land
The goalie carousel continues to spin for the Leafs, as Frederik Andersen is still on injured reserved, and Jack Campbell was a bit too sore for Monday’s game against the Oilers, so Michael Hutchinson took the net. While Jack is 6-0 in games he starts this season, Hutch isn’t fairing so well. Never fear, though, because it looks like the stick taps are back tonight:

Sheldon Keefe confirms Jack Campbell will start tonight.
Frederik Andersen has a follow-up appointment tomorrow that they hope will provide some insight on his next steps.
— Kristen Shilton (@kristen_shilton) March 31, 2021

Rumours continue to swirl about what, if any, moves Kyle Dubas makes ahead of the trade deadline, and all these roster transactions fuel the fire:

Forward Adam Brooks, defenceman Timothy Liljegren and forward Scott Sabourin have been reassigned to the @MapleLeafs taxi squad.
Forward Nick Robertson and defenceman Calle …

Page 6ix Wednesday, March 3rd: A little bit of everything

Hey there hockey gossip fans, hope the past week has been treating you well. Hockey drama is at a bit of an all time high these days, with firings, player social media habits, COVID response, and more. Of course, our own Toronto Maple Leafs remain at the centre of it all, as usual, because they are the centre of the hockey world, as we all know. Let’s take a gander around the league, shall we?
Leafs Lads
Captain John Tavares is expanding his hockey footprint, as he and buddy Sam Gagner are the proud new papas of a hockey team.

A statement on the @TorontoMarlboro. Very thankful for this opportunity! pic.twitter.com/OVzankSO93
— John Tavares (@91Tavares) March 2, 2021

That’s right, the Leafs captain is the new owner of the Toronto Marlboros. JT seems to be setting himself up for a long commitment to hockey – perhaps a fun little project for when he retires? Investing in the Toronto hockey scene like this certainly indicates that he plans to be a Leaf for the duration of his career, wouldn’t you think?
Meanwhile, coach Sheldon Keefe had a hilarious reaction during media availability recently, when he was asked how he …

Howdy friends and gossip mongers. It’s time to take a look at what’s been happening in and around the league this week. While things remain relatively quiet-ish (not for long, we suspect) there is definitely some gossip and drama to discuss.
So we begin, as always, with….
Leafs Lads
Looks like a few of our favourite boys spent some virtual time with some kids over at Sick Kids hospital recently:

Des enfants de l’hôpital SickKids de Toronto ont reçu la visite virtuelle de quatre joueurs des Maple Leafs, vendredi dernier.

Captain John Tavares, Auston Matthews, Morgan Rielly and Frederik Andersen, joined by Carleton the Bear, hopefully brought some smiles to some kids faces!
Speaking of AM34, he continues to hang in AZ with Hockey Jesus himself, Connor McDavid:

Page 6ix Wednesday, November 25th: Odds and Ends and A Surprise Baby

Welcome gossip friends! As we get deeper into the indefinite offseason, the drama seems to ebb and flow. Some weeks it’s plentiful, others it’s sparse, and occasionally there is one or two big things and not much else. We’re in the third category right now, so let’s take a look at the big deal gossip. But first…we have to start with our Leafsland report.
Leafs Lads
Just a couple quick tidbits from our Leafs this week. Auston Matthews continues his Movember fundraiser, while also spending some quality ice time with Connor McDavid in AZ.

Auston Matthews & Connor McDavid are skating together in preparation for the 2020-21 season. Also wanted to promote Matthews’ Movember page. It’s a great cause and he will shave off his stache if he gets to $134K: https://t.co/LHVn3ZaQPo https://t.co/b47lBooOBV
— Elliotte Friedman (@FriedgeHNIC) November 23, 2020

What do you think they talk about? Is AM34 the key to McDavid making a move back home to Toronto?
Elsewhere, actual puppy Travis Dermott promoted a Tiny Shelters fundraiser:

Page 6ix Wednesday, November 18th: Does anyone actually know what reverse retro means?

Welcome gossip fiends. We’re back for another week of a look at what’s happening in and around the NHL that might pique our interest. Things have gotten a bit quieter, but there’s still some juicy fun to dive into.
Leafs Lads (and Ladies…and Littles)
As always, we start with a look at our own Leafs. This week, the focus is on my very favourite Leaf, Zach Hyman. If you weren’t already aware, Zach is going to be a brand new dad very soon! We got lucky, and he shared some lovely photos with his wife and her baby bump.

We can not wait to meet Baby Hyman.
In more Zach news, it seems he has joined the new, expanded Return to Play committee:

Players that I hear are on the Return to Play committee:
David Backes, Darren Helm, David Savard, Justin Faulk, Lars Eller, Sam Gagner, Justin Abdelkader, Ian Cole, Zach Hyman, Ron Hainsey, Claude Giroux, Ryan Dzingel, Andrew Copp, Alex Biega, Chris Kreider, Mark Scheifele. https://t.co/wC73SwMf79

Page 6ix Wednesday, November 11th: Double Feature!

Welcome back, gossip hounds. Apologies for taking an unexpected week off last Wednesday, but the real-life post election drama for this U.S. resident was a bit too overwhelming to focus on the more lighthearted hockey drama and gossip. Appreciate your understanding.
But that means we can load up a bit this week on the fun and entertaining things happening in and around the league. We’ve got some Halloween costumes, some cute pets, and some Twitter drama to look at! Let’s jump in, shall we?
Leafs Lads (and Ladies – and Babies and Pups?)
Leafs captain John Tavares and his adorable family, including pregnant wife Arynne, kicked off the Halloween season with these heartwarming family photos:

Elsewhere, most lovable goalie ever Jack Campbell babysat the Leafs’ newest baby (okay, fine, rookie) Nicholas Robertson. They enjoyed a cozy movie night in together:

Page 6ix Wednesday, October 28th: Babies, Fur Babies, and Instagram Madness

Happy Wednesday, gossip hounds. If you’re here, it likely means you either have a sense of unwavering loyalty to yours truly, or you too need a break from the real world to focus on the mundane, trivial fun of hockey gossip and drama.
So let’s get to it, shall we?
Leafs Lads (and Ladies, and Fur Babies)
Our boys in blue were all over Instagram this week cuddling their furry loved ones. First up, this adorable picture of Morgan Rielly and little Zoë, shared by Tessa Virtue on her IG stories:

It’s her favourite, and it might be ours too.
Then, we have our adorable backup goalie Jack Campbell, aka cat dad extraordinaire:

Love those furry friend pics!
Finally, quick shout out to the newest Leaf goalie, Aaron Dell, and his fiancee Nicole, who recently made the move to Toronto. Nicole has been documenting it on IG stories, and if you don’t yet …
