Toronto Raptors: 3 goals for Nick Nurse ahead of 2021-22 season

The Toronto Raptors have one of the absolute best head coaches in the sport in Nick Nurse, as the replacement for Dwane Casey led the franchise to their first-ever NBA championship in his debut season at the help while helping them take home 53 victories and the East’s No. 2 seed in his second campaign. […]

The case against Charlie

As I laid my head on my fairly hard pillow to slumber, I had a sudden spark of inspiration for an article, in fact, it’ll be a two part article. It may come off as controversial, but I think Charlie Montoyo is here to stay and if I’m being honest, he should stay. Many people may disagree, but in this article I’ll give you the most common reasons for fans wanting Charlie to be fired.

As I started writing this article on August 31st, he had already made some questionable decisions. In fact, I truly thought they were out of the race as they were 4.5 games behind in the wild card. While he had made some questionable decisions during the course of the ongoing season, the perceived underachieving cannot be pinned on him in the slightest.
I’ll be running through the arguments (without belittling you) and giving my take on the perceived incompetence of Charlie. In the next Montoyo article, I’ll be giving you my arguments as to why the Blue Jays should retain him for the 2022 season and beyond.
I complain about bunting:
If you’ll spare me the time, I will rip into …

Canada is sporting […]

Should the Pacers have fired former Raptors assistant Nate Bjorkgren?

The Toronto Raptors saw another disciple of head coach Nick Nurse earn himself an NBA head coaching job last offseason, as Nate Bjorkgren was named the next coach of an Indiana Pacers team that is trying anything and everything to get over the hump. Bjorkgren immediately turned a team that 23rd in points scored and […]

Toronto Six name new head coach – Mark Joslin

The Toronto Six have a new head coach! Mark Joslin will succeed Digit Murphy, who will remain in her role as President of the Toronto Six organization.
From the team’s press release:
“Joslin has been involved at elite levels of the game for over 20 years and most recently spent four seasons with the Toronto Patriots of the Ontario Junior Hockey League between 2016-20. The first two seasons were in the general manager’s role before adding head coach to his title. Now after over a decade in men’s junior hockey, Joslin says making a difference is what led him to the Toronto Six.”
Joslin himself had the following to say about the appointment:
“I just love where women’s hockey is right now and the direction it’s going,” said the new bench boss. “It’s been a dream of mine to always coach pro hockey. Signing on with the Toronto Six after talking to Digit and getting this opportunity with the only (NWHL) franchise in Canada is special. I think timing-wise and where I am in my career, it’s a great opportunity for me to come in and educate to hopefully make a difference for this …

Raptors: Why in the world is Matt Thomas not getting minutes?

Raptors: Why in the world is Matt Thomas not getting minutes?

If Toronto Raptors head coach Nick Nurse can get criticized for anything in this unusual season, one can look at his rotation choices, as which players end up with more playing time off of the bench seem to be completely arbitrary. One player that has found himself squeezed out of playing time is shooting guard […]

Digit Murphy previews the Toronto Six season

The women of the Toronto Six head to the bubble today, so what better time to preview the exciting season ahead? With the Toronto Six inaugural season set to start on Saturday in the Lake Placid NWHL bubble, we were fortunate enough to speak with head coach and president Digit Murphy about what fans can expect, what to look forward to, and which players to watch out for.

It’s a strange season to debut a new team, and Murphy and I discussed how that has impacted the team’s preparation.
Digit explained that from October through early January, the team only had 8 players and a couple coaches on the ice together, so the team as a whole will only have had 6 or 7 practices together before heading to the bubble to play games. This puts them at a bit of a disadvantage, as Murphy noted, “the challenge is going to be how do you, during a pandemic and shortened season, get everyone on the same sheet of music to win a championship.”
Nonetheless, despite the strange circumstances and jam packed training schedule, the team is “really excited to play a game.” And when asked about the team’s identity, Murphy …

Toronto Raptors: Grading Toronto’s free agency moves

Toronto Raptors: Grading Toronto’s free agency moves

The Toronto Raptors head into the season with a lower set of expectations than they’ve become accustomed too over the past 3 years.  They’re no longer a championship contender, but they do still have a competitive roster.  If free agency told us anything, however, it’s that this team might be looking further ahead than just […]
