1 fatal Raptors flaw Thunder exposed in absolutely humiliating loss

Scottie Barnes and the Toronto Raptors needed to show character and resilience in the face of adversity, as Pascal Siakam and Precious Achiuwa will going to be on the mend for the next few weeks due to groin and ankle troubles. With a three-game road trip coming up, other teams are clearly sensing the panic […]

Auston Matthews stands up for himself and shows his winning smile, chaos ensues

Auston Matthews stands up for himself and shows his winning smile, chaos ensues

The Leafs desperately needed a good result to get themselves back on track and they got exactly that on Wednesday night.
While it was against a Flyers team who played the previous night, Toronto did almost everything you could ask of them throughout the 60 minutes. Ilya Samsonov made some quality saves when he had to, John Tavares put the team on his back with an inspiring performance, and the bottom six played well while also getting rewarded with a goal from Zach Aston-Reese.
The power-play showed signs of being more creative and they turned it into two tallies. Although the Leafs took six infractions on the night, they killed off five of them and were much more sound down a man.
It was a game that was desperately needed with the temperature in the fanbase at a boiling point, which should help the team feel better about themselves as they prepare to take on the red-hot Bruins on Saturday. Theoretically, should be nothing to complain about with a game in which the Leafs were clearly the better team all night long.
As is always the case, people will find something to nitpick with the Leafs. In this case, many were upset at Auston Matthews for not really engaging with Travis Konecny near the end of the game.

Mark Giordano didn’t like that 🥊 pic.twitte …

Changes coming at The Leafs Nation*

Changes coming at The Leafs Nation*

* I felt the asterisk is needed in case you aren’t reading this late on Monday night and are in fact reading this after the changes have taken place.
If there is one constant in life it’s change and likely that people will then complain about that change. I’m hoping we get a lot less of the latter as we are implementing our changes around TLN. If you are reading this Monday night, you might have noticed sites like Canucks Army and Flames Nation have switched over to a sleek new, updated format that is very 2022. It’s been a few years since we’ve had a redesign on the Nation Network team sites, and there are a few changes beyond just prettying us up a little.
Our site will hopefully be loading a lot faster for you now. Speed is what the Nation Network set out to achieve in the redesign and we should now be able to live that dream.
The other dream we are hoping to live is improved readability, both with a nicer font, but also with more thoughtful ad placement that doesn’t disrupt your reading experience as much. Unfortunately, ads are a part of life as the network needs to help me keep up my fur coat and diamond ring lifestyle that I’m used to.
Another change that is coming is we are pivoting our comment system over to Disqus, and …

Blue Jays kick off Texas series with a 4-3 win

When the Blue Jays needed a RISP hero tonight, it was Danny Jansen who was up to the task.

Jansen’s RBI single in the ninth inning served as the game-winning hit, as the Blue Jays dodged a late rally from the Rangers and took the series opener 4-3.
Toronto led for most of the game, but their inability to deliver with runners in scoring position through the late innings allowed Texas to eventually tie the game. The Blue Jays stranded the bases loaded in the 6th and also a one-out triple by Bo Bichette in the 8th. Nonetheless, the Blue Jays were able to rebound, and it was bottom-of-the-order bats who got the job done.
After the Rangers tied the game at 3 in the 8th, Raimel Tapia led off the 9th with a walk. He stole second, and then advanced to third on a deep flyout from Santiago Espinal. With a hope of literally just a sac fly or a slow grounder to score the run, Jansen lifted a slider from Jose Leclerc into left field to give the Blue Jays the lead.
The Rangers rally overshadowed another great offensive outing from Bo Bichette. He scored George Springer on an RBI fielder’s choice in the first inning, which is the first time the Blue Jays have s …

Toronto Raptors 2022-23 season preview: PG Jeff Dowtin

The Toronto Raptors still needed to fill one of their two-way contract spots by the time Summer League rolled around. After seeing the show that Jeff Dowtin put on for Toronto in Las Vegas, Nick Nurse and Masai Ujiri decided to make him a part of the squad for 2022-23. After being undrafted following a […]
