Toronto Raptors: “Mounting confidence” Masai Ujiri will re-sign with Raps

Toronto Raptors: “Mounting confidence” Masai Ujiri will re-sign with Raps

The Toronto Raptors were uncharacteristically poor this season, but president Masai Ujiri has rightfully escaped criticism, as Toronto’s struggles lie in the fact that they were playing their home games in Florida amid a global pandemic. Ujiri, who has built the Raptors into a champion since leaving his role with the Denver Nuggets, saw his […]

Toronto Raptors: Should point-forward Pascal Siakam become part of Toronto’s rotations?

Toronto Raptors: Should point-forward Pascal Siakam become part of Toronto’s rotations?

Amid a very poor start individually in a tough season for the Toronto Raptors, Pascal Siakam is proving once again that he is one of the best power forwards in the league, as he has proven that putting the ball in the basket is far from his only positive trait. He did struggle against Julius […]

Toronto Raptors: Stanley Johnson’s Kawhi-Esque defense and offensive revolution

Toronto Raptors: Stanley Johnson’s Kawhi-Esque defense and offensive revolution

The Toronto Raptors bench depth has been poor for the better part of the season (besides Boucher), but one player who has been impressive is Stanley Johnson. “I just think that I’m the best player in the draft,” Stanley Johnson said shortly after being selected 8th by the Detroit Pistons in the 2015 NBA Draft. […]

Toronto Raptors’ halfcourt offense hasn’t been good since Kawhi left

Toronto Raptors’ halfcourt offense hasn’t been good since Kawhi left

Traces from the Toronto Raptors’ poor offense last season persists in the preseason. Although the preseason doesn’t define how good a team will be in the regular season, it is a good time to evaluate a team’s weak points. For the Toronto Raptors, they continue to showcase the same weakness that has manifested them in the […]

No Leafs games for a few days, so let’s choke down some Panthers hockey

Through the miracle of poor scheduling the Leafs don’t play on Saturday night, and the NHL has left its largest fanbase lost and searching for ways to kill time until Toronto plays again on Tuesday night.
One strategy for following the Leafs, but not watching them (which seems preferable at the moment) is to see what becomes of the Florida Panthers playoff changes.
At the moment, MoneyPuck.com is giving them a 23.7% chance of making the playoffs, but only a 18% chance of getting the 3rd place spot in the Atlantic division. I want to say that I like those odds for the Leafs, but after going winless in California and picking up only 3 goals over 3 games, we can’t ignore that the Leafs might need to rely on Florida’s self destruction rather than the Leafs winning their way out of the season. The Panthers have a regulation wins lead over the Leafs on the season, so they will only need to match the 5 point deficit the are in against the Leafs, rather than pick up six points to fully pass them in the standings to earn the final playoff spot. Florida only having 3 wins in …

How concerning is the Toronto Raptors record against top-end opponents?

The Toronto Raptors have a poor record against top-end opponents this season. Should we be concerned by their struggles? When all is said and done in the NBA, it comes down to the best team from each conference – the East and the West – battling it out for supremacy and the right to call […]

Grades from Toronto Raptors big road win vs Brooklyn Nets

The Toronto Raptors took advantage of some poor Brooklyn Nets play to pick up a win on the road. How did everyone grade in the win? After a dismal offensive performance against the Miami Heat, the Toronto Raptors were all systems go as they traveled to the Barclays Center to take on the 16-17 Brooklyn […]

Maple Leafs Pregame #33: 5 Things to Watch for against Calgary

The Leafs are in Calgary. Poor bastards. Maybe it’s the last trip they’ll make here while Calgary is still part of Canada. Only time will tell. For now they’d probably settle for a Wexit, that’s a win plus a quick trip to the airport.
Anyways, I’m assuming Mercury is retrograde or something because right now the Flames are six game winning streak largely because of the play of Milan Lucic and Zac Rinaldo. Yes, in the year 2019 Zac Rinaldo is still in the NHL and somehow he’s thriving. I guess anything is possible when you move on from a toxic coach.
So here we are. Arguably the two most under-performing teams in Canada desperately trying to get back in the playoff picture under new coaches. Should be intense.

Toronto Raptors: How Marc Gasol impacts the game beyond the box score

Despite poor numbers to start the year, Marc Gasol is still helping the Toronto Raptors in ways that don’t show up in the box score. Marc Gasol is shooting 34.4-percent from the field. Let’s rephrase that: The Toronto Raptors 6-foot-11 center, Marc Gasol is shooting 34.4-percent from the field. Included in that, he’s shooting a […]
