It looks like the Leafs might be playing in an All-Canadian Divison after all

The dog days of the offseason are well underway, with the caveat being that we’re in the middle of November with no clear sign of when the 2020-21 season will start and how it will look.
It appears we have gotten better clarity on both of these Thursday as Pierre LeBrun of The Athletic provided updates with an NHL Board of Governors meeting set to be held later today.

Both the NHL and NHLPA continue to maintain a Jan. 1 target date for opening night, which means mid-Dec opening of camps (and 7 days before that for the 7 non-RTP teams from last summer). But that’s not written in stone yet. Could change. (con’t)

And finally, given the continued border restrictions, looking more and more like a 2020-21 season begins with an all-Canadian division at least until they can figure out how to cross the border later in the season… so that should be fun. But again, nothing decided for sure yet

It’s worth mentioning that the Return to Play Committee (which includes Zach Hyman and former Leaf Ron Hainsey has been a major driving force in these talks for the state of …

The Toronto Raptors should target Jahmi’us Ramsey in the draft

The NBA playoffs are underway, but the Toronto Raptors also need to be preparing for the draft. One player they should consider is Jahmi’us Ramsey. So far the NBA’s bubble experiment has been a success. There haven’t been any positive coronavirus tests. The playoffs are underway and the Toronto Raptors just swept an underman Brooklyn […]

EA Sports reveals details about new NHL 21 video game

Although the Stanley Cup playoffs are currently underway in the middle of August for the first time, in any other year, we would be in the middle of the offseason right now. On top of all the signings and moves that come with the offseason, hockey fans also use this time to look forward to the annual reveal of the newest EA Sports NHL video game.
Regardless of the fact that the hockey season is still going on, EA Sports has revealed their first trailer for their new NHL 21 video game, and it looks great.
Last year, Toronto Maple Leafs star centre Auston Matthews had the honour to grace the cover of NHL 20. This year, Washington Capitals star captain Alex Ovechkin will be the cover athlete. This is his second time on an EA Sports video game cover, after he was the cover athlete for NHL 07 as well. Check out the trailer below:

The short trailer mainly highlights Ovechkin as the cover star, but also showcases some new improvements, including updated graphics, new moves such as the “Michigan goal,” popularized by Andrei Svechnikov and Nikita Kucherov’s “no move” move, and a tease at an …

Five Potential Trade Partners for Frederik Andersen

With the playoffs officially underway and the Toronto Maple Leafs once again sent home early, we can begin to truly look forward to what could be considered a monumental offseason for the organization. And while most of the attention may end up (rightfully) focused on the pricey offensive group that was shutout twice by Joonas Korpisalo in their five game series against the Columbus Blue Jackets and the paper-mâché defensive group that saw Cody freakin’ Ceci play significant minutes, the questions surrounding this team do not end there.
It’s time to once again talk about Frederik Andersen and his future, or lack thereof, with the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Andersen has become a contentious figure on Leafs Twitter lately, with seemingly half the fanbase rushing to defend yet another postseason failure as “not his fault” with the other pointing out that this is the fourth potential series clinching game that Andersen has played for the Blue & White and the result is a resounding zero wins and four losses, and that alone should at the very least justify the discussion of moving on. Cards on the table, I am full fledged in the …

World Juniors Report: Nick Robertson is Looking Good

This year’s World Junior Championship is underway and three Leafs prospects took the ice on Thursday afternoon in their first games of the tournament.
One of those prospects was 2019 second-round pick, Nicholas Robertson. The 18-year-old forward and his American teammates faced off against Team Canada in a high-event Boxing Day matchup.
Robertson started the tournament on the first line, to the left of Senators prospect Shane Pinto and Islanders first-rounder Oliver Wahlstrom. He was also deployed on the team’s top power-play unit. Team USA’s coaching staff seem to be high on Robertson, and for good reason – all he has done in the OHL this season, at the Summer Showcase this past summer, and in the recent pre-tournament games is work hard and score goals.
Thursday afternoon’s matchup against the Canadians was no different.
While Robertson did get off to a bit of a quiet start, the Leafs prospect and his linemates improved as the game progressed. As he typically does, Robertson made smart decisions with the puck, provided energy away from it, and eventually put up a couple of points.
Here are a few standout plays from his game:

Nick Robertson ( …
